Ruvits

Founder | 2021

I started this side project when I heard about Gumroad. I wondered how difficult would be to build something similar but forArgentina. Then I realized that the main thing I was going to need was a payment processor, so I turned to MercadoPago, the most well-known and widely used digital wallet. I ended up being selected to join a startup accelerator program for LATAM founders. What I learned:

  • MercadoPago as payment processor implementing marketplace mode to be able to charge on users' behalf for their products, charging a small fee per transaction (2%)
  • App hosting on Vercel with NextJS. Single server hosted on AWS EC2 to support the upload of large files to be stored on S3.
  • Helped ~100 creators sell their content
  • Experimented with MongoDB

Note: I found this old deployment link
